Meet Katie
Hi there! I'm so happy you're here, reading this. I'm Katie Gruber, the yoga teacher who founded and runs Kind Human Yoga Studio. I'm excited to share my love of yoga with you.
I fell in love with yoga in 2014. Looking for something new to do on a vacation, I stumbled across a hot flow yoga studio and decided to give it a try. Although I didn't know what the words "vinyasa" or "sun salutation" meant at the time and I stumbled through the class, I immediately fell in love with the glow and the happy feeling I had afterwards. Two days later I found myself with some more free time and went back again. Afterwards an advanced yogi who had impressed me immensely during the class encouraged me to go become a yoga teacher and build a studio in my hometown. I found this idea hilarious, as I had barely made it through those first two classes. But the seed had been planted.
I still remember my first intentions for those classes: "make it through" and "don't compare myself to others." Those intentions continue to be great guiding intentions for my practice today. After those classes, I came home and began practicing regularly at home. I found that the more often I practiced, the more balanced, less stressed, and more happy I became. Soon #yogaeverydamnday became my adopted hashtag to live by, even just squeezing a few stretches, sun salutations, or simple moments of silence in on the hectic days.
In 2015 I spent an afternoon thinking about some life goals I wanted to work towards accomplishing. I wrote these down, even putting year dates on when I wanted to do these. For some of them, I had no idea if I was actually going to accomplish them. Yoga teacher training was among these goals, with a goal year of 2017. I literally did not think this was realistic, but it was fun to imagine. I put away the list and continued on with life. Towards the end of 2016, my husband suggested that I look into finding a teacher training. Although my initial reaction was that there was no way it was going to work out, I thought about it and before I knew it, I was doing it. Then the idea for a studio came, and then the studio (although definitely not overnight! :)). Those words that I had laughed at, spoken years before by a woman who barely knew me at my first yoga class ever, came true.
For me, yoga is the conscious creation of a place of peace in our mind. And a yoga studio is a place where we come together and cheer each other on as we walk through life. By moving our body, we are able to calm the outside and find power from the inside. We're not trying to "get out of our head" but moving towards a place where we can quiet and come home. By quieting the distraction we reconnect to our true selves, making space for what is truly important to us to come forward. This connection and openness allows for manifestation of our goals to happen even without us forcing actions.
Off my mat, you may find me at my career job where I lead a sales team and project managing system integration projects. Or playing interior designer for our home and gardening (while constantly being astonished things grow my garden), volunteering for our little lovely community which I adore, reading, hiking, or hanging out with my dog Hippie and Josh, the inspiration and love of my life.
I teach Sun Flow Yoga on Saturdays at 8:30am, Moon Flow Yoga on Wednesdays at 5:30pm, and Meditation Club the second Wednesday of every month at 6:45pm.

Meet Natasha
Natasha (or Nati for short) began practicing yoga in 2019. On her way into her first power yoga class, she was hoping for a good workout and to help alleviate back pain. Laying in a sweaty mess at the end of class she realized there was so much more to the practice of yoga. Natasha fell in love with the space yoga created. Not only the physical space, but the emotional and mental space which opened the way for personal inquiry and growth.
Natasha completed her RYT200 training at Plover Yoga in 2022. She aims to encourage other’s growth by creating a welcoming and peaceful space to inspire exploration. When not on her mat, Natasha works as a laboratory information system analyst. She enjoys sewing, crafting, spoiling her 3 cats and outdoor adventures (hiking, camping, kayaking, paddleboarding and snowshoeing) with her hubbie and best friend, Alex. Natasha teaches Power Yoga on Thursdays at 5:30pm. |

meet yourself on the mat
Come to a yoga class and you'll likely hear the teacher say, "I am here as your guide; you're your best teacher. Do what feels right to you." Believe me, we mean it. Sometimes a power yoga class sounds like a great idea until you're 20 minutes in and you realize you just need to breathe on your mat without any other demands on your attention or time or body - please, sit or lay in savasana for the rest of class. Consider this your permission slip to rest or amplify your practice at any time it feels right. We mean it when your body is telling you to modify crescent pose by putting a knee down, or she tells you to skip that chaturanga and meet in downward dog, or your body is tells you to take it up a firey notch and lift your leg during side plank, or when the flow doesn't feel right and you are just going to sit in an easy seat and inhale and exhale. When your body tells you these things, listen to your body. Yoga is the union between body and mind. When you let your mind follow your body and that means doing something different than the rest of the class - we celebrate that. Because in that moment, you are becoming everyone else's hero to listen to their own bodies too. Be your best teacher.
