Hatha means ‘ha’ for sun and ‘tha’ for moon. It’s a unique balance of heat (masculine aspects) and cool (feminine aspects.) By uniting these aspects within ourselves, we balance our polar energies, through yoga poses (held for 5-8 yogic breaths), breathwork (pranayama), and meditation.
This class is ideal for beginners as well as intermediate and advanced students. Whether you’re new to yoga, recovering from an injury/surgery, or need stretching to counterbalance your fitness routine, this approach offers many benefits. Specific cues in proper placement, alignment, breath and intention are expressed with each asana (yoga pose.) It’s an incredible foundation to then expand your styles and practice, as desired. Yoga etiquette, terminology, and a basic yogic comprehension is taught here to enhance understanding, minimize injuries, and create a safe and loving atmosphere. Many advanced students appreciate the class to re-learn and/or to adjust from an unhealthy alignment that has perpetuated over time. Props like blocks, blankets, straps, and even chairs are highly encouraged and demonstrated during classes. Music Style: Restorative / calm music, usually without lyrics Hatha meets Wednesdays at 10am. |
